I should have researched this a bit better before I put this on my list.
Common sense is that if you want tickets to an event, you go and buy them! Well, not if you want to see Saturday Night Live...
Apparently, there are two ways you can score yourself some SNL tickets...
1. This is the 'easy' way. During the month of August, you can email the show and enter into a 'raffle'. Basically, a majority of the tickets are given out at the yearly raffle, and it is at this time that the tickets for all the shows through out the year are distributed. If you are selected, you will receive two tickets for a random show, and they are free. Yay, you!
2. This way takes a bit more effort. On the day of the show, be in line in front of the studio by 7:30am or so. If they have any left over seats after the host's/musician's guests, you have a chance of getting in to either the dress rehearsal or the actual taping. Even if you get a standby ticket, there is no guarantee of admittance until you are physically in you seat. So, you can be literally backstage, and still be turned away. Wow.
On the bright side, there is no monetary aspect of attending SNL(if you don't take in to consideration the cost of going to NY, of course). I'm not at all willing to attempt the showing up at 7:30am approach right now, so I suppose every August I'll just enter the raffle like a good girl and hope that I'm chosen.
