Half-Birthday Reflections- The Past Six Months

Six months from today, I will turn 25. Ouch! Old, I know! Feeling the wrinkles setting in, I decided it's time to review my progress so far on my 25 before 25. What better time to reflect on what I have done, and what I have yet to do?

25 Before 25- Midyear Review

Complete:

The first thing I accomplished- and annoyingly enough what most people on Google are searching for when they stumble upon my humble blog- was washing my shoes. The buggers were oxidized to all hell and, although my cleaning technique worked, it was temporary (I have since bought new shoes).

2. Buy a Random Person Something off their Baby Registry

Surprising a stranger with a baby carrier off of her registry felt good. Although I sent the carrier her way, I don't know if she ever got it. I never heard anything from her. I hope it made it to her, and that she is finding it useful.

3. Tell my Mother her Secret

This was by far the scariest task on my list to complete. Unfortunately, she never received my letter. I'm still marking this complete, though, as there has been some headway in this department.

I wrote this letter to 14 year old Zack Gooding, founder of Guiltless Giving LLC. The next day I received an email from Cerelle, Zack's mom, thanking me for my letter and offering to help me with some of my life list items if I'm ever in their neck of the woods. The following day I received a letter from Zack himself! Both him and his mom were surprised to learn that Zack can be seen as an inspiration to all of us.

5. Clean my Coach Purse

I have had this purse for five years, and never once cleaned it. It turned out that what I had thought was dirt was actually wear and tear, and scrubbing it made it worse.

6. Send a Postcard in to Postsecret

Everybody should do this a least once. It's very therapeutic. It's also nerve wracking to nonchalantly slip it in a mailbox without getting caught. God forbid the mailman catches you!

7. Get to the Bottom of Jack's Peeing Issue

The issue? My cat was anxious and depressed. A couple months of Paxil cleared that right up.

8. Have a Child

I have to admit- Putting this on my list of 25 before 25 was a bit of a cop-out. I was already very pregnant! It wasn't like I had to try very hard to get the ball rolling on this one!

9. Graduate from College

Another slight cop-out. I was due to graduate either way. What I wasn't expecting was being able to walk across the stage to actually accept my degree (I was two days past my pregnancy due-date) and graduate Cum Laude. I had to get straight A's my last semester to accomplish this!

10. Sew up the Couches

If I didn't put this on my list, I would have never done it.

11. Create a Signature Dish

It may not be pretty, but I promise you my Orange-Glazed Pork Chop recipe is delicious, and definitely worth trying.

12. Move Back to Massachusetts

I wasn't for sure if this was going to happen or not, but sure enough we are back!

Still in Progress:

*Teach Lela Something New
*Baby Charm Bracelet
*Make Bun Mam (again)
*Pressure Cooker Pho
*Be More Stylish
*Become a Neat Freak
*See Someone from my Mom's Side of the Family
*Visit my Grandparents for No Apparent Reason
*Identify 50 Things that Make me Happy (Stay Tuned)
*And Make a Video About it
*Vote for the Perfect Candidate for the President of the United States
*Attend a NAMI Meeting

I am about on track! There are some of these that I question whether or not I will complete, but I'm determined nonetheless.

What goals have you completed so far this year?
